July 2004 Update - No More Needles
Greetings one and all,
Again, I'm about a week behind getting his update out, but I had things to
do! Like celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. :) It wasn't anything
fancy, but it was our last one sans children, so we tried to make it as
special as possible while spending as little money as possible. LOL And
we went to our favorite Japanese restaurant, where we haven't eaten
probably in 8 months or so. YUMMY!! Next up on our social calendar is
another busy month: my best friend's wedding in Texas, a visit from my
aunt and cousin from New Mexico, my birthday, a local stitching
get-together, DH's birthday, and my second baby shower (this time family
and friends). I think that gets us through the first week of August.
After that, things should calm down considerably, at least for our "last
two months of freedom." :p
Can you believe there are only 13(ish) weeks left in this grand
adventure?!?! According to my "baby ticker," I have 92 days left to the
40 week mark. That just doesn't seem possible somehow. We have, however,
finally done all of the necessary furniture rearranging upstairs. The
playroom is no more (wah!), the former playroom is now the guest room
(complete with DH-installed ceiling fan), and the guest room is now empty
of all non-baby-related furniture (and also has a freshly DH-installed
ceiling fan). There's plenty of other junk in there too which needs to be
handled (we had to put it somewhere during all that room swapping), but
most of the heavy lifting is done. Next will be one of the greatest tests
of our engineering skills: assembly of the crib and installation of the
car seat. Fun fun!
As far as the baby and I are concerned, everything is just fine. I passed
my blood glucose test the first time with no trouble whatsoever (and it
didn't taste as bad as I thought, though it wasn't yummy by any means). Assuming nothing comes up that requires a blood test, that means no more needles until I go to the hospital to give birth! :D Baby's heartbeat was 140, exactly what it should be. Baby movement is also significantly more pronounced. Not only can DH feel it (his only comment: "that's just weird"), but it is often visible. That is weird! I definitely look pregnant now. (Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.) I finally had to break down and order maternity clothes. I am also about to have to buy new shoes; all of mine seem to have shrunk. ::rolls eyes:: No grapefruit ankles yet, but my ankle bones do disappear from time to time. Besides that, I am in excellent health.
Well, a relatively short update this month (nice change of pace, no?). I
will wait to send out the next one until after the baby shower so that I
might have pictures to share. "See" you then!
Love, Erin and Steve and Baby G
